An artist discusses boundaries – “the limits we put between ourselves and other people, a gauge of what we will and will not tolerate from others,” she explains. Forming strong boundaries is an indication of knowing how to put yourself and your needs first, she continues.
In the seven-minute video, the artist recounts how her lack of boundaries made her physically and mentally sick as she repeatedly agreed to activities that did not align with her needs and desires.
Supplies for the activity require felt markers, paper, colored pencils and other drawing material such as chalk or oil markers. She includes a small candle or incense to “set the space” and atmosphere for the work, and the video includes soothing background music.
Against a backdrop of sooting music, she provides instructions on what concepts she wants you to illustrate. The choice of medium and color is yours. In a time-lapse sequence, she draws herself protected by borders and explains each element of her artistic choice.
The seven-minute video explains boundaries and their critical role in mental health. She gives direction on concepts to illustrate.
